Meet Ed Wood

Edward Wood currently serves as the chair of the University Place Public Safety Commission and works for the Department of Defense.  He has served our country for 31 years in the United States Army and Army Reserve, commanding troops at the company, battalion, and brigade levels, and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  As an Emergency Manager first for Pierce County and then Joint Base Lewis McChord, he has responded to disasters both locally and across the country.  He knows how to lead, build teams, and realize visions.

Edward's experience responding to disasters and serving in armed conflict has taught him the value of community.  Dedicated to making a difference, he has served as the Board President for Families Unlimited Network and has volunteered for service organizations such as Rotary, Homes for Hope, Boy Scouts of America, and Habitat for Humanity.

As a young man, Edward received a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Illinois, graduating with a B.A. in history.  He subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration (Phi Beta Kappa) from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Strategic Studies (Distinguished Graduate) from the US Army War College.  He is a long-time resident of University Place, where he lives with his wife, Amanda, and their two kids.
